Chandigarh/Ferozepur: AAP leaders strongly condemned the Khalistani supporter Gurpatwant Pannun for his derogatory comments about the Constitution’s architect, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. They stated that Pannun deliberately makes inflammatory statements because spreading hatred is his profession.
On Wednesday, AAP MLAs Fauja Singh Sarari, Ranbir Singh Bhullar, Rajnish Kumar Dahiya, and Naresh Kataria collectively addressed a press conference in Ferozepur regarding the remarks of Gurpatwant Pannun.
Addressing the media, MLA Fauja Singh Sarari said that miscreants like Pannun are attempting to disrupt Punjab's peace and harmony. However, the AAP government will not let their vile plans succeed. “We firmly stand against such individuals,” he asserted.
AAP leaders emphasized that Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar does not belong to any one caste or religion; he belongs to the entire nation, and his birth anniversary is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. They added that Pannun’s statements are merely an attempt to provoke the people of Punjab.
Sarari said, “Today, India is the world’s largest democratic nation, and this is possible only because of the Constitution drafted by Babasaheb.”
He cautioned the public, stating that individuals like Gurpatwant Pannun are enemies of society who are loyal to no one. “There is no need to pay attention to his words,” Sarari said, challenging Pannun to come to Punjab and say such things instead of instigating the youth while sitting abroad.
MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar said that Punjab's communal harmony is strong and unbreakable. He added that Pannun lacks any understanding of Sikhism. “Our Gurus taught us the principle of ‘Sarbat da Bhala’ (the welfare of all) and treated everyone equally. Guru Gobind Singh Ji even referred to the Dalit community as ‘Rangrete Guru Ke Bete’ (sons of the Guru).”
He also mentioned that the Ninth Guru of Sikhism, Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh Ji, is revered as the ‘Hind Ki Chadar’ for his fight to protect Hindu religion and India.
“Making vile statements in the name of Sikhism exposes Pannun’s petty mindset,” Bhullar said. “I appeal to all Sikh organizations to excommunicate Gurpatwant Pannun from the panth as he tarnishes the name of both Punjab and Sikhism with his provocative remarks. He spreads hatred under the guise of religion.”
The AAP MLA assured, “We are not afraid of such statements. On April 14, during the festival of Baisakhi, all AAP leaders and workers will celebrate Babasaheb’s birth anniversary with great fervor. We will also ensure the protection of all his statues across Punjab.”
