New Delhi, August 07, 2024: In a fervent plea to the Union Government, the senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, Raghav Chadha, has urged the government, to hold talks with the Pakistan Government to establish a safe corridor to Sri Nankana Sahib, similar to the Sri Kartarpur Corridor in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
Urging the central government to establish a safe corridor to Sri Nankana Sahib in the Rajya Sabha, Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha said, “This matter is related to the faith of crores of Punjabis. I am very fortunate that I got the opportunity to represent the state of Punjab in this House. Punjab is a state whose land is sacred by the grace of Guru Sahiban. When the country was divided in 1947, not only the country was divided into two parts, but our Punjab was also divided into two parts, one Punjab remained in Pakistan and the other joined India.”
Recounting the sacrifices that Punjabis had to make, the AAP MP from Punjab stated, “When the country was partitioned, the blood of lakhs of Punjabi families was shed, including my family. Many of our friends and relatives were separated from us but more importantly, our Gurudwara Sahibs were separated from us.”
“Today there are many such Gurudwara Sahibs like Sri Kartarpur Sahib, Sri Panja Sahib, and Sri Nankana Sahib which are located in Pakistan. One of these is the most sacred place where Guru Nanak Dev ji was born, Sri Nankana Sahib, which is located at a distance of about 90 kilometres from Lahore,” shared the AAP MP from Punjab.
MP Raghav Chadha stated while putting his demand before the Rajya Sabha, “Today I have brought a demand before this House. The Sangat prays for darshan of Sri Nankana Sahib Ji, in that context, I want to place three small demands before the government through the House today.”
“The first demand is that just like by building the Sri Kartarpur Sahib corridor, the Sangat got a chance to have darshan, an arrangement was made for paying obeisance, in the same way, work should be done on the Sri Nankana Sahib corridor too. The governments of both the countries (India & Pakistan) should jointly build a corridor so that devotees from India can go to Sri Nankana Sahib Ji,” the Punjab MP said.
“My second demand is that there should be no need for a visa, passport, fee or any complicated form to visit Sri Nankana Sahib Ji, there should be a simple process.
My third demand is that the distance between Sri Nankana Sahib Ji from Amritsar's Wagah-Attari border is 104 kilometres, this distance can be easily covered in two and a half hours by car or bus. I demand this road to be made a safe passage, the governments of both the countries should together make the route that goes from Amritsar to Lahore via Nankana Sahib a safe passage so that devotees and devotees can go there and have open darshan,” he added.
MP Raghav Chadha mentioned that if this demand is fulfilled, a huge message of peace and camaraderie will be sent to the whole world, and along with this, the governments of both countries will receive the blessings of crores of devotees. In this regard, whatever their AAP's Punjab government can do, they will fully cooperate with the Government of India.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha raised 3 demands:
1. The Indian government should use diplomacy to establish this Sri Nankana Sahib corridor, just like Sri Kartarpur Corridor was established.
2. There should not be any mandatory requirement of passport, visa, and cumbersome forms for the devotees. Also, no fee should be charged from the devotees.
3. A safe road passage should be created starting from Amritsar (Attari Wagah Border) till Sri Nankana Sahib in Pakistan.
