AAP Slams Partap Bajwa for “Shameful, Demoralizing” Remarks Against Punjab Police; Demands Apology from Congress Leader

Chandigarh, April 6, 2025: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday strongly condemned Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa for his derogatory and irresponsible remarks against the Punjab Police, calling his statement not just an insult to a disciplined and decorated force, but also an attempt to demoralize those who risk their lives daily to safeguard Punjab and the nation.

Addressing a gathering, Bajwa had alleged that the “present Punjab Police has gone absolutely corrupt” and outrageously called for the dismantling and reconstruction of the entire force.

AAP Punjab Senior Spokesperson Neel Garg hit back, saying: “Every sector, including politics, has good and bad elements. But branding the entire police force as corrupt is not criticism—it’s a direct attack on the morale of thousands of brave and honest officers. Bajwa has insulted the force that is not only protecting Punjab’s law and order but also guarding our international borders, fighting terrorism, drug cartels, and organized crime.”

Garg said Bajwa’s statement reeks of hypocrisy and political opportunism. “The same police he is maligning is deployed for his personal security. If he truly believes the force is corrupt and useless, he should immediately relinquish his police protection. Let him lead by example instead of playing politics over the sacrifices of our jawans,” he added.

Garg reminded Bajwa and the Congress party of the glorious legacy of Punjab Police in restoring peace after the dark era. “This is the same force that has rescued Punjab from the grip of terrorism, and is today leading the charge against drug mafias, gangsters, and anti-national elements using drones and cross-border networks. To label such a force as ‘completely corrupt’ is not just baseless—it is disgraceful,” said Garg.

Garg also highlighted that the Mann government has not only empowered the police by filling vacant posts but has also equipped them with modern vehicles, weapons, and facilities. He said unlike previous Congress and Akali governments that misused the police for political gains, the AAP government has ensured institutional independence and integrity.

Demanding an immediate apology from Bajwa, Garg stated: “Bajwa must apologize to every honest officer of Punjab Police who is working day and night to protect people. He must stop playing petty politics at the cost of Punjab’s safety and dignity.”

Neel Garg concluded, “AAP stands firmly with our Punjab Police. We salute their service and reject Bajwa’s slander. Punjab will not tolerate insults to its protectors.”
