AAP volunteers displays irregularities at Giaspura electricity office

Ludhiana, July 26, 2013: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) volunteers today visited the Giaspura Electricity Office from where lot of complaints was coming on AAP’s Helpline.
When AAP volunteers visited the electricity office at Giaspura all were shocked, the condition there was really shocking. The most problematic was there is only single window to collect bills and there was a long queue of hundreds of customers present there to get deposit their bills. There was even no separate window for women or old aged and both have to stand in queue to deposit their bills. On average there are 200 plus consumers who are always present to deposit to the bill. The worst things noticed there was that there was no shed, no ceiling fans for the customers and the consumers were standing in open under scorching heat and rain.
There was no facility of cheque drop box. Even no receipt was being issued after receiving the bills, only a stamp was being put on the bill.
The building was also in a pathetic condition. Even loose electricity wire connections were seen all around, water seepage was noticed there. The office chairs were found broken.
Finally, the AAP volunteers gave a memorandum to senior engineer Punerdeep Singh narrating the whole facts. Interestingly, the officer himself was sitting in an AC room. On the other hand, the consumers were standing in the long queues in the scorching heat in the open.
AAP District Secretary Balbir Aggarwal said they have given an ultimatum of one week to correct the things.
Among others, the AAP volunteers Mohit Mittal, Sandeep Mishra, Parshu Ram, Mahinder Aggarwal, Paramjeet Singh Bharaj and Gulshan Kumar were present.
