Abhishek Bachchan Gets Emotional on KBC 16: Talks about being a ‘Girl Dad’
This Friday, get ready for a laughter-packed and heartwarming episode of Amitabh Bachchan hosted ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 16’ on Sony Entertainment Television as this special edition will bring together the charismatic Abhishek Bachchan along with the visionary director Shoojit Sircar, and the celebrated author Arjun Sen to promote their thought-provoking new film, ‘I want to Talk.’ While the episode had its share of light-hearted banter, one emotional moment stood out, offering a glimpse into Amitabh Bachchan's soft side. The heartfelt exchange began when Abhishek shared how Shoojit Sircar first narrated the story of the film ‘I Want to Talk.’ “Shoojit da didn’t tell me the entire story,” Abhishek recalled. “He only spoke about Arjun da’s life and his journey, and that alone left a lasting impression on me."
It was then that Arjun Sen shared a deeply personal memory talking about when he did when it was declared that he had only 100 days to live. He spoke about how for three days he lived in darkness and the only outlet he had to light was through the refrigerator. The real motivation seeped in when his 3-year-old daughter, Raka came into his room, cleaned the place and took him out. She then asked him three questions, “What is dying? Are you dying? Will you dance at my wedding?” to which he gave a reflex response saying he won’t die and will dance at her wedding. Seeing her eyes light up became his life’s mission to be there for her.
This incident visibly moved Abhishek Bachchan who reflected on the profound bond fathers share with their daughters. “This really touched my heart,” he said. “Sweta Di is your daughter, so you understand this emotion. Aaradhya is my daughter, and Shoojit da has two daughters. We are all ‘Girl Dads,’ and we truly understand that emotion.” He continued, “What resonated with me most was Arjun’s promise to his daughter. Despite everything he was going through, he assured her he would fight to be there for her, to dance at her wedding. That unwavering commitment as a father is beyond words.”
