Pracheen Kala Kendra’s 13th Quarterly Baithak reverberate with the Vocal recital by Shaunak Chatterjee and Adnan’s Sitar created ripples of music waves at Triveni Kala Sangam, Mandi House, New Delhi here on September 28, 2019.

Musical Programme was organized by Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh. The musical event went on to a majestic melodic experience after Sajal Koser, Secretary along with other distinguished guests lighted the traditional lamp.

Sounak Chattopadhyay is a leading vocalist of the present generation and has made a place for himself in the hearts of many Classical and Bengali Art music lovers. His regular stage performances for prestigious concert stages, in India and abroad (notably USA) his regular television appearances and his albums that have topped charts in leading music stores of the city bear witness to that.

On other hand son of renowned Sitar player Ustad Saeed Khan of Kirana gharana, Adnan started his initial sitar training under his maternal grand father, Late Zafar Ahmed Khan. He has since been learning the intricacies of the instrument from his father. The gayaki ang is clearly palpable in his rendition of sitar. The talented young Adnan has performed in programmes throughout India

Shounak unfolded the melodic character of popular raga Shudha Kalyan through an alaap. They presented a composition in vilambit laya set to jhumra tal with bandish “ Karam karo” before a faster laya Drut gat famous composition “mandarva bajo re” amidst thunderous applause. He wrap up with a beautiful bandish in Gaur Malhar. He was very ably accompanied by young and talented accompanists like Mahavir Chandravat on Tabla and Lalit Sisodia on Harmonium.

Adnan chose Raga “Shyam Kalyan” set to vilambit teen taal to form the raga form. Then he moved on to another gat drut teen taal with perfect maturity and expansion. Adnan mesmerized the audience with his sheer skill, deft handling of the raga, lightening speed of Taans. The audience was thrilled to relish the recital as he doled out with concluded composition in a Dhun based on raga khamaj amidst applause.
The excellent accompaniment on Tabla by young and talented Tabla player Spatak Sharma and added to the success of the concert.
