ADC Panchal inaugurates 'cloth bag' outlet of Self-help group

Ludhiana, January 6, 2023: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Amit Kumar Panchal on Friday inaugurated a 'cloth bag' outlet of self-help group in the local district administrative complex.
Lauding the group members for their initiative, Panchal said that aim of the project was the empowerment of women by providing them with better livelihood opportunities. He said that the group members were trained in the DRDA Skill development centre and the raw material was sponsored by various industries of the district.
The ADC also appealed to the residents of Ludhiana to buy environment-friendly and affordable cloth bags from this outlet which will support self-help group in a significant manner and motivate other women to get self-reliant. He also underlined the need to give up the use of plastic carry bags which were causing damage to the environment and urged them to switch to cloth bags.
Reiterating that the district administration was committed to empowering women by honing their skills through short-term skill training programs, Panchal said that boys and girls between the ages of 18-40 and having a 5th standard pass could seek admission in this six-month course in DRDA skill development centre. He said that classes were being taken in two batches (10 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm) and informed that interested candidates could contact on 82840-84913 if they want to get admission to the Skill Development Centre in the district administrative complex and at 75270-79648 for admission at R-Seti, Hambran road, Ayali Khurd, near Dana Mandi, Ludhiana. Panchal said that the interested candidates would have to pay a fee of Rs 500 per month along with Rs 50 as an admission fee.
