Administration approves 12 fiscal incentives  applications, units to get benefits worth Rs. 266.44 lakh

A meeting of the District Bureau of Industry and Investment Promotion (DBIIP) committee, led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jitendra Jorwal, was held today to review cases for in-principle approval under the Right to Business Act, 2020.

Ludhiana, March 4, 2025: A meeting of the District Bureau of Industry and Investment Promotion (DBIIP) committee, led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jitendra Jorwal, was held today to review cases for in-principle approval under the Right to Business Act, 2020. 

During the meeting, for Fiscal Incentives, 12 incentive applications of different types were approved which will benefit 9 units.
This includes regulatory clearances and fiscal incentives, such as electricity duty exemptions, CLU/EDC exemptions, and stamp duty exemptions for setting up or expanding industrial units in Ludhiana.  

The Right to Business Act facilitates regulatory clearances and offers benefits under the Industrial and Business Development Policies (IBDP) of 2017 and 2022. These benefits include electricity duty exemptions, stamp duty exemptions, CLU/EDC exemptions, and SGST reimbursements for establishing industrial units in Ludhiana.  

DC Jitendra Jorwal announced a total of Rs. 266.44 lakh in incentives has been approved for nine cases under the Industrial and Business Development Policy (IBDP), 2017. Additionally, two cases were approved under the Right to Business Act. Units receiving in-principle approval can begin construction immediately but must obtain regular approvals within 3.5 years from the date of issuance of approvals.

Furthermore, one unit was granted an electricity duty exemption for ten years under the Industrial and Business Development Policy (IBDP), 2022. CLU/EDC exemptions were approved for two projects under the same policy, amounting to Rs. 19.44 lakh. SGST reimbursement has been approved for five units, totaling Rs. 2.27 crore under the IBDP, 2017. Additionally, a freight subsidy of Rs. 20 lakh was granted to one unit under the IBDP, 2022.  

The DC expressed confidence that these policies would boost industry morale, encouraging more businesses to take advantage of the available benefits. He emphasized that the policy provides multiple advantages, including significant fiscal incentives, while ensuring that applications are monitored by the highest authorities to guarantee timely clearances.  

During the meeting, the review of the DBIIP was also conducted. Departments such as PPCB, Labour, Factories, and MC Ludhiana were directed to address any pending issues within allocated timeframes to facilitate the government's vision of ease of doing business in Punjab.
