Administration bans paddy harvesting through combine machines from 6 pm to 10 am
The district administration has imposed a ban on harvesting paddy crop between 6 pm and 10 am in the Ludhiana.
Ludhiana, September 30, 2024: The district administration has imposed a ban on harvesting paddy crop between 6 pm and 10 am in the Ludhiana.
Under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (old 144 of CRPC), the use of combine machines for paddy harvesting has been prohibited during these hours by the district administration.
The ban is in place because dew settles on the grain during the night, which increases the moisture content and makes it difficult for procurement agencies to purchase the grain.
Additionally, during this paddy harvesting season, no combine harvester will be allowed to operate without the Super SMS fitted on it.
Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal also urged farmers to refrain from burning paddy stubble, as it destroys essential soil nutrients and releases harmful gases that can affect human health.
