Administration checks a printing press near civil hospital; issues notice after confiscating hoardings without the names of printer and publishers

Ludhiana, May 27, 2024: Committed to enforce Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in the district during upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the district administration conducted surprise checking at a printing press situated in Field Ganj area near Civil Hospital on Monday.
Working under the supervision of Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) Ludhiana Central Ojasvi Alankar, the flying squad team (FST) along with other concerned officials confiscated campaigning material (hoardings/posters) of different political parties from the printing press as the name of the publisher and the printer were not mentioned on the material.
A notice has also been issued to the owner of the printing press in this regard as this is the violation under section 127A of The Representation of the People Act, 1951.
ARO Ojasvi Alankar stated that working on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO) Sakshi Sawhney, they are keeping strict vigil so that there is no violation of MCC.
After the teams came to know about the violation, a raid was conducted at the printing press and hoardings/posters have been confiscated without the names of publishers and printers.
ARO Alankar stated that it is mandatory to print the names of printer and publisher on any kind of hoardings/posters etc and failure to do the same is violation under section 127A of The Representation of the People Act, 1951. The confiscated material has been kept the concerned police station and a notice has been issued to the owner of the printing press for MCC violation. Further action will be taken as per the norms of the Election Commission on India (ECI).
