Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik on Monday felicitated 52 students of various schools and colleges for their excellent and creative artwork exhibited in the competition 'Hunar' organized on the eve of World Art Day on April 15 this year.

Ludhiana, June 5, 2023: Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik on Monday felicitated 52 students of various schools and colleges for their excellent and creative artwork exhibited in the competition 'Hunar' organized on the eve of World Art Day on April 15 this year. 

Hunar had received an overwhelming response with 3500 entries submitted by the students of government and private schools and colleges. 

Handing over appreciation certificates and a sapling to awardees on eve of World Environment Day,  Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik said that these young minds had showed remarkable artistic talent in their artwork on various subjects environment, urban, social messages or other issues. She encouraged the students to become green warriors and said that they must strive hard to save the plant from climate distress. 

Malik said that it was the bounden duty of everyone to make arduous efforts for protecting the environment adding that youth can play an instrumental role in this entire process by galvanizing more and more people to make such drives a mass movement. She said that trees play a crucial role by conserving natural resources and improving the environment. 

The Deputy Commissioner said that these awarded artwork would be disolayed in the district administrative complex and other offices. She said that it was a difficult time for the jury to select the best work as all students have done brilliant creativity but after the initial round of elimination, 500 entries shortlisted of which 52 were awarded today. 

Prominent among the present on the occasion included CM's Field Officer Opinderjit Kaur, Assistant Commissioners (UT) Aparna MB, Krishna Pal Rajpoot and teachers of the students.
