For ensuring maximum participation in the Lok Sabha-2024 elections, the administration is organising voter registration camps in various colleges/educational institutes for enrolling first time voters.
Ludhiana, March 20, 2024: For ensuring maximum participation in the Lok Sabha-2024 elections, the administration is organising voter registration camps in various colleges/educational institutes for enrolling first time voters.
The camps are being organised under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program and the students are being urged to exercise their 'Right to Vote' without any fear.
On Wednesday, the voter registration camps were organised at Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women in Model Town, ITI Gill road, ATI Gill road, Arya College among other educational institutes.
District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney said that regular awareness and voter registration camps are being organised under SVEEP to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).
DEO Sawhney also appealed the residents and students to use 'Voter Helpline' mobile application and National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) for enrolling themselves as voters. The residents can also visit www.nvsp.in to register themselves as voters.
DEO Sawhney said that youth can play an important role in democracy and they should vote wisely. Further she stated that the civil administration and police are committed to ensure free, fair and transparent elections.
