ADMINISTRATION TO ORGANIZE MARATHON ON MARCH 31 TO EXHORT PEOPLE FOR VOTE AND AGAINST DRUG MENACE

Ferozepur, March 22, 2019: With an aim to exhort the people for their massive participation in voting and sensitize them against drug abuse, the District Administration will organize a Marathon on March 31 at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium, Ferozepur. Presiding over a meeting, Deputy Commissioner Mr Chander Gaind fixed the duties of the various departments for the successful completion of the mega event. He said that the marathon will start at 7.30 am and will have two categories including 5 –km to 10—km. He added that 5-km marathon will cover the route from Delhi Gate and back to Stadium and second will come back from Golf Course to Stadium. Around 1500 people are expected to take part in the mega event. He asked the police, health and public health departments to make adequate arrangements for the event including availability of medical teams, two ambulances on the routes, traffic and security management and temporary toilets must be installed for the facility of the participants. MC will ensure proper cleanliness of the route, he added. He exhorted the Ferozepuris to participate in event to make it huge success and told that winners will be awarded with cash prizes and application certificates. Mr Gaind said that the students of various educational institutes will present cultural items including Bhangra and Gidha. On the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Mr Ranjit Singh, SDM Mr Amit Gupta, District Sports Officer Mr Sunil Sharma, DSP Sandeep Singh, DCM Group CEO Mr Anirudh Gupta and others were present.
