Administration procures 100-percent arrived wheat, makes payments worth Rs 92.54 crore to farmers: ADC Jasbir Singh
Directs officers to ensure lifting of wheat within 48-hours
Nawanshahr, April 18, 2022: Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Jasbir Singh on Monday said that the Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar administration had procured 100-percent wheat so far arrived in the grain markets of the district and had cleared the payments worth Rs 92.54 crore to the peasantry in the ongoing Rabi procurement season.
Chairing a review meeting to monitor the progress of the procurement of wheat in the grain markets, Additional Deputy Commissioner said that around 66007-MT wheat had been arrived in the grain markets and entire stock of the crop had been procured by the agencies.
He told the all procurement agencies to make sure that there must not be glut of wheat in the grain markets and directed their heads to abide by the guidelines of the state government to lift the wheat within 48 hours of its purchase. He said that the officials must ensure sufficient space for the wheat being brought by the farmers.
Singh asked them to ensure that farmers must not face any kind of difficulty in the grain markets in selling the crop and they must get the payments of their produce at the earliest. He further directed the officers to visit the grain markets daily to supervise the procurement operations minutely. ADC said that district administration is committed to ensure smooth and seamless procurement season without any sort of delay.
