Keeping in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases, the district administration would celebrate 12th National Voters’ Day virtually on January 25
Nawanshahr, January 21, 2022: Keeping in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases, the district administration would celebrate 12th National Voters’ Day virtually on January 25.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that National Voters’ day is celebrated to mark the foundation day of Election Commission of India (ECI). He said that the day is commemorated to encourage, facilitate and maximize enrolment, especially for the new voters in the elections, the festival of democracy.
He said that as per directions of ECI this year, the administration would make elaborate arrangements to observe the day through online mode and directions have been issued to all returning officers, booth level officers in this regard.
He said that the booth level functions would be held in the smart schools from where they would be virtually connected with state level event to be presided by the Chief Electoral Officer on January 25.
Sarangal said that five new voters would be facilitated with epic cards besides best Returning Officer, Booth Level Officer, Best Nodal Officer, would be honoured with certificates of achievement. He said that pledge also be administrated to all the participants virtually during the event.
He added that the theme for this year's National Voters’ Day is ‘Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and participative’ during elections.
Deputy Commissioner said that maximum participation of voters in democratic process is the key for formation of a good government and told that focus is being laid on sensitizing the people, especially the youngsters to exercising their franchise in the elections.
