Taking a new initiative for the polling staff, the district administration will provide the crèche facility for children of the polling staff at the level of all Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) on June 1 when voting will take place here.

Ludhiana, May 3, 2024: Taking a new initiative for the polling staff, the district administration will provide the crèche facility for children of the polling staff at the level of all Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) on June 1 when voting will take place here. 

District Election Officer (DEO) Sakshi Sawhney on Friday inspected a crèche in Punjab Agricultural University and said the facility would be provided to the kids of the polling staff and this would be available free of cost from 6 am to 10 pm on June 1.

She said that consent forms to avail the facility would be made available to all polling staff during their respective training sessions to be started from May 5. 

DEO Sawhney also appealed to polling staff not to refuse to perform their election duty due to their children. The district administration is duty-bound to facilitate them in every possible manner. Adequately trained teachers and Anganwari workers will be deployed to take care of the children in the crèches, and facilities such as tea, milk, bread, breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided. Indoor and outdoor games and LED televisions will also be available for the entertainment of the children.

District Election Officer said further claimed that the polling staff must not fear about their safety of their kids and feel free regarding their wards as the children would be looked after in the best possible manner by the administration.
