Jalandhar, February 26, 2025: Adolescent and Psychiatry Cell of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, successfully organized a One-Week Program on “Mental Wellness for All: Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges”.in collaboration with BA.B.ED and psychology.

It aimed at promoting mental well-being, resilience, and emotional intelligence among students and faculty. The initiative brought together expert psychologists and motivational speakers who conducted insightful sessions on mental health awareness, stress management, self-growth, and emotional well-being.

The program commenced with a symbolic planter ceremony, led by Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar and faculty members, signifying growth, renewal, and a nurturing mindset.

Throughout the week, a series of engaging and interactive sessions were conducted by renowned psychologists and mental health experts. The resource persons included Pranavcheet Kaur, Counseling Psychologist; Karman Kaur Miglani, Child Psychologist & Motivational Speaker; and Parul Vij Wadhwa, Counseling Psychologist at Punjab Public School, Nabha. Each expert brought valuable insights into different aspects of mental wellness, encouraging participants to explore self-awareness, emotional regulation, and positive coping mechanisms.

The sessions featured icebreaker activities, PowerPoint presentations, and open discussions, allowing students to share their thoughts and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. Thought-provoking topics such as overcoming fear, spirituality in mental well-being, gratitude, self-motivation, stress management, and emotional resilience were explored in depth. Participants actively engaged in affirmation-writing exercises, goal-setting activities, and interactive Q&A sessions, enhancing their understanding of mental wellness strategies.

As part of the program, a Meditation and Yoga Session was held where participants learnt techniques to achieve mental clarity, relaxation, and inner peace. This session helped in reducing stress and enhancing focus, promoting overall well-being. A special session on Games-Based Relaxation Techniques was conducted, introducing students to interactive and engaging methods to manage stress and enhance mindfulness. The use of games and activities created a fun and stress-free learning environment, making relaxation techniques more accessible and enjoyable.

The program successfully broke barriers by addressing stigmas surrounding mental health and built bridges by fostering open conversations, self-reflection, and emotional empowerment. Students and faculty members found the sessions to be highly enlightening and transformative, equipping them with practical strategies for maintaining mental wellness in both academic and personal spheres.

President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar felicitated the Cell and its Coordinators Amandeep Kaur, Triptjit Kaur and Ritu Gill for organising the activity to promote holistic development, ensuring that students not only excel academically but also cultivate emotional strength and resilience. The program concluded with a vote of thanks to the esteemed resource persons, acknowledging their invaluable contributions toward fostering a mentally healthy and empowered student community.
