Adopt proactive approach for official functioning and public dealing

Chandigarh, August 19: Punjab Government today enjoined upon its officers to conclude the public dealings and official functioning within stipulated time frame with a view to strengthen cooperation between general public, concerned departments of Union Government and the Punjab Government. 

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson said that this was decided in a high-level attended by all Administrative Secretaries presided over by Rakesh Singh, Chief Secretary, Punjab. He said that necessary instructions have been issued to all Revenue Commissioners, Principal Secretaries and Administrative Secretaries in this regard. He said that all the officers of various departments have been asked to adopt proactive approach for official functioning and public dealing. He said that all the departments of Punjab were also directed to establish maximum cooperation with its counterparts in the Union Government so that the center schemes can be vigorously implemented.

The Spokesperson said that this was also decided in the meeting that all Cabinet agenda should also be sent only after interdepartmental deliberations with not only the Personnel and Finance but also with other concerned departments. He said that Cabinet agenda pertaining to creations of posts must be first screened by committee of officers headed by Chief Secretary as per the instructions of circulated earlier.

He said that in future the Administrative Secretaries of all the departments would have to submit their detailed report on one page with Chief Secretary after reviewing the monthly report submitted by department in the cases needed immediate action. He said that besides this all Administrative Secretaries would also ensure the conduction of quarterly meetings of their respective departments and they would have to send the reports to Cooperation Wing in this regard.

The Spokesperson informed that all Administrative Secretaries would have to take a monthly review of pending court cases of Punjab Government and would also appoint Nodal Officers, who could ensure weekly review in such cases. He said that Information Technology Department was also directed to create a pool of e-mail IDs of all Administrative Secretaries and intimate user ID and password to them besides preparing a directory of such addresses including field officers as per the discussions in the meeting.
