Adulterated condensed milk destroyed by health department
In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Health Department today raided a sweet shop in Panje Ke village, Guruharsahai sub-division and seized 180 kg of adulterated condensed milk besides other adulterated material. The operation, led by District Food Safety Officer Abhinav Khosla, is part of an ongoing campaign aimed at eliminating harmful food products from the market ahead of the festive season.
Ferozepur, August 14, 2024: In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Health Department today raided a sweet shop in Panje Ke village, Guruharsahai sub-division and seized 180 kg of adulterated condensed milk besides other adulterated material. The operation, led by District Food Safety Officer Abhinav Khosla, is part of an ongoing campaign aimed at eliminating harmful food products from the market ahead of the festive season.
Speaking about the raid, Khosla said the department had received a tip-off that a local shopkeeper had sourced adulterated condensed milk from Rajasthan, intended for use in sweets. “We acted swiftly and conducted the raid, seizing not only the adulterated condensed milk but also 50 kg of ammonia and 20 kg of adulterated sweets. The tainted products were destroyed on the spot in the presence of villagers," he said.
“A raid was conducted at the shop and the team recovered 180 kg adulterated condensed milk besides 50 kg ammonia and 20 kg adulterated sweets. All of this material was destroyed in the presence of the villagers. Besides, we have collected the samples which will be sent to the laboratory and after receiving the report, necessary action shall be taken against the shop owner”, said Khosla.
It is pertinent to mention here that last week, the health department officials had conducted raids at various food joints situated in the city area. During the raid, the team had found severe anomalies and had even issued challan to few shopkeepers besides the samples were also collected.
