Bangalore, June 28, 2017: Fortis Hospital has launched a new, state-of-the-art Advanced Surgeries & Sports Injury Clinic at Cunningham Road facility today. With an objective to provide the best care for any injury incurred by any sportsperson, the center was inaugurated by Mr Promod Madhwaraj, Minister of Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, Government of Karnataka, Dr Sarala, Chief Medical Officer, Sports Authority of India and Ms Reeth Abraham- Arjuna awardee in the presence of Dr Chirag Thonse, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Fortis Hospital and Dr Vishnu Vardhan, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital, CG Road.

Mr Promod Madhwaraj, Minister of Youth Empowerment and Sports Department,Government of Karnataka, said, "I am happy to extend support to Fortis hospital in this new development. This will help sports enthusiasts and athletes to get right treatment at a much needed time."

In line with this, Dr. Chirag Thonse, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Specialist in Arthroscopy, Spots Injures and Joint Replacement Surgeries, HOD said, “With the increase in sports activities, there is a need to address sports injuries on the advanced and specialized level. The techniques used for the treatment of sport injuries need specialized intervention with diagnostics, evaluation and methods. Our aim is to provide patients with innovative solutions for their injuries.”

The doctors at Fortis Hospital would be using advanced Arthroscopy technique to treat patients with problems in knee joints, shoulders and ankle. The facility of ligament construction and cartilage preserving surgeries would also be available at the hospital under the guidance of best surgeon which could be accessed by any sports enthusiasts along with professional athletes.

Dr Sarala, Chief Medical Officer, Sports Authority of India added, “The Government of India has been promoting sports in the country on the larger scale. This year we have organized various events in football, hockey, cricket, kabaddi etc to give a platform to budding athletes. Having a specialized medical aid in the segment will help athletes access the right treatment available and recover better. We are glad that such specialized services are made available for sportsmen from all parts of the city and to elite athletes who need early recovery. We hope the services reach many. .”

The new Advanced Surgeries & Sports Injury Clinic is the extension of existing facility in Bannerghatta Road.
