After PSIEC, MC to complete relaying of balance roads in focal point areas by July 31: MP Arora 

Of the total 12 works, Municipal Corporation (MC) has completed 5 works of relaying of roads in Focal Point areas of this industrial city. The remaining 7 works are in progress and these works are expected to be completed by July 31 this year.

Ludhiana, June 30, 2024: Of the total 12 works, Municipal Corporation (MC) has completed 5 works of relaying of roads in Focal Point areas of this industrial city. The remaining 7 works are in progress and these works are expected to be completed by July 31 this year.

A status report about these works has been given to MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora by the officials concerned.

In a statement here today, Arora said all the twelve works are being executed by MCL at a cost of Rs.14.12 Crore. The funds for the same have been released by Punjab Government.

In Focal Point (Phase-I), the works are being carried at a cost of about Rs.1.50 Crore. Here construction work of bituminous road on Surpal Cycle Industry Road from Focal Point Main Road to Auto Tech C-72 is in progress and 20% work is completed. The Bituminous work is pending. The work of construction of bituminous road from Kay Jay Forging to Post Office Road and Link of Focal Point is completed. 

In Focal Point (Phase-II), the work of construction of bituminous road from KW Road to Vardhman Mill and road from KW to UCO Bank have been completed at a cost of Rs.91.51 lakh. 

In Focal Point (Phase-III), the work of construction of roads is being undertaken at a cost of about Rs.3.17 Crores. A total 10 per cent work of construction of bituminous road from Post Office to Punjab Breweries has been completed. The work is pending due to the ongoing upgradation of sewer work. The work will be done immediately after completion of the sewer work. However, the work of construction of road on Coca Cola Road and road from Post Office Road to Rockman Road is completed.

Another work of construction of road from HP Dharam Kanda to Railway Line Main Focal Point Road is also in progress. A total 50 per cent work of this road is already completed. This road is being relayed at a cost of about Rs.5 Crores.

In Zone C, the work of construction of road on Bihari Chowk Village Jugrana is in progress and 90 per cent work is already completed. The strengthening work of Jaspal Bangar Main Road is also in progress and 95 per cent of its work is completed. Another road from GK Kanda to Birdi Kanda on Sua Road is also being relayed and its 95 per cent work is completed. Construction of RCC Road links of Singla Cycle Store (Ekta Market Gate No.2) and links of Surjit Palace Road Dhandari Kalan is also in progress and 40 per cent work is already completed. All these works are being carried at a cost of about Rs.3.50 lakh. 

Arora said the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) has almost completed work of relaying of roads in Phase V, VI, VII and VIII in Focal Point areas here at a cost of about Rs.25.23 crores.

The construction of roads in Focal Points areas were constructed decades ago. These roads were in a dilapidated condition over the decades, resulting to which industries located in the areas were suffering a lot specially during the rainy season. Arora had taken an initiative to relay these roads after the industrial bodies started approaching him. 

Meanwhile, Arora said the relayed roads are giving a new lifeline to focal point areas. He added that he would keep on tracking the progress of construction work of these roads till the entire work is completed. He hoped that the entire work will be completed by July 31 after which the entire industry in the Focal Point areas will feel a sigh of relief. He thanked Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann for releasing sufficient funds for these roads.
