After rural areas, now home delivery of pensions in urban areas also

Sri Muktsar Sahib: District administration is taking every step to ensure door to door supply of most of the essential things required by public amid the curfew imposed to contain the spread of Covid-19 across the district. Stating this in a press release, Deputy Commissioner Mr. M.K. Aravind Kumar today said that after introducing home delivery of pensions in the rural areas now the same has also been implemented in the rural areas.
“We are issuing a list of around 25 postmen in Muktsar, Malout and Gidderbaha areas by which people seeking pension may directly get in touch with them to obtain their respective pensions,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
District Social Security Officer Naveen Gadwal said that there are around 15,000 pensioners in the urban areas who can obtain pension either by making phone call to their area’s postman or can receive whenever he comes to their area.
Apart from introducing this facility in the urban area the number of Banking Correspondents too are increased in the rural areas who are already distributing pension in the villages.
These pensions include old age, widow, destitute and disabled.
DSSO said that there are around 150 branches of different banks which are catering to the requirements of the pension seekers. A grant of nearly Rs 7 crores is received for this purpose from the government. He said that apart from the Social Security Funds, Pardhan Mantri Samman Nidhi Yojana related funds will also be disbursed for the pension.
