A souvenir –cum- membership directory being released during annual general meeting (AGM) of Auto Parts Manufacturers Association (India) at Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, December 25, 2012: City Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwarhia has appealed to the industrial units to adopt a park in its nearby area for complete maintenance.

Addressing annual general meeting (AGM) of Auto Parts Manufacturers Association (India) here, he added Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (LMC) was about to handover the city parks for complete maintenance to industrial units which would agree in written to adopt parks in its nearby areas in the near future.

He revealed that LMC had already received some applications from the industrial units in this regard. He told that LMC had been doing so to ensure proper maintenance of the city parks, most of them were in pathetic condition. Otherwise too, they would have to raise money from the local industrialists for the cause, therefore, LMC thought it would be better to let the industrial units to “adopt” parks in its nearby areas.

Regarding miserable condition of the roads in industrial focal point, he said the estimates worth about Rs. 55 lakh were being prepared for the purpose. He told that the roads would be got repaired through PSIEC in the future.

Mayor also spoke about water logging problem during rains. He said LMC had also a proposal to lay underground storm water channel for disposal of rain water to come out of the problem of water logging during rains in the city. He said storm water channel would be laid along the roads.

In his address, the Auto Parts Manufacturers Association (India) president Gurpargat Singh Kahlon and general secretary Ranjodh Singh spoke about the problems being faced by the auto parts manufacturers. They said there were several factors due to which the industry was passing through a great crisis.

Adding, they said the state government was worried a lot about the fact that the industry was facing many problems. They said Punjab government was trying to resolve the issues that come under its ambit in the future.

MLA Simarjit Singh Bains, the association vice presidents Manjit Singh Khalsa and Upkar Singh and Ludhiana district industries centre (DIC) general manager Mahesh Khanna also spoke.

On the occasion, the association’s souvenir –cum- membership directory was released.

Among others, the association senior vice president Raghbir Singh was also present.
