Agriculture Department exhorts farmers to make Ludhiana free from stubble burning

Ludhiana, September 27, 2021: The two-day Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Singh Kisan Mela in Raowal village concluded with the appeal to the farmers to contribute in the making Ludhiana pollution free by shunning the stubble burning and utilizing the hi-tech implants to decompose the stubble in the soil to increase its fertility.
The district agriculture and farmers welfare department had organized the fair in association with local committee which was attended by hundreds of farmers.
Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Narinder Singh Dhaliwal called the farmers to come forward and join the hands with the state government in wiping out stubble burning menace from Punjab. He said that the government was already providing hi-tech machinery through co-operative societies which could be procured on the rent to decompose the straw in the fields which would not only increase the fertility but would also save the environment from harmful gases being produced through burning the straws.
He also threw light on the various schemes being run by the government for the farmers and asked them to avail the benefits. He told that the farmers of the state were hardworking and innovative who had always shown the way to the nation whether through green revolution or by making the country self-reliant in food production.
