AICTE-ISTE sponsored induction/refresher program concludes at DAVIET

Jalandhar: Department of Mechanical Engineering, DAV Institute  of Engineering  and Technology  organized a week long AICTE-ISTE (All India Council for Technical Education and Indian Society for Technical Education) sponsored Induction/Refresher program for faculty members of technical education institutes during June 07-12, 2021. The  program  concluded  yesterday  with  almost  all the desired outcomes achieved at the end of the program. Titled as “Advance Materials and Processes for Sustainable Intelligent Manufacturing”, the program was conceived to provide the knowhow on current state of research and development in the field of Materials and Manufacturing Processes especially with focus on sustainability and was conducted in completely online mode. 100 faculty members from different states of the country including Karnatka, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra,  Delhi- NCR, Punjab etc. registered for participation.

Col. B. Venkat, Director, Faculty Development Cell, AICTE, New Delhi and Prof. Vijay D. Vaidya, Executive Secretary, ISTE New Delhi were distinguished guests at the valedictory ceremony held yesterday in online mode only. The event was designed to comprehensively  cover the diverse fields of advanced materials such as metal and polymer-based composites, biomaterials for use with additive manufacturing, smart materials and  manufacturing  strategies  including  additive manufacturing, advance manufacturing processes, Green and Smart Manufacturing, waste minimization, recycle and reuse of materials etc.

Speaking at the valedictory function, Col. B. Venkat said that AICTE is determined at creating Knowledgeable Faculty Members with the Blend of Technology in the  prevailing  circumstances  and applauded the efforts of DAVIET in this line to meet the objective  thereof. He  congratulated the coordinator and the host institute for successful conduct of the event.
Prof. Vijay D. Vaidya also lauded the efforts and hard work of the DAVIET and the organizing team led by Prof. Gaurav Kumar Dhuria for the successful conduct of the program.  While  talking  of National Education Policy, he stressed that it will reinstate the glory of Indian Education System through its routes to ancient and traditional knowledge systems and will be instrumental in making India the Education hub of the world. He said that in the modern times when Technology is really changing very fast, it is pertinent that teachers should also embrace these changes and get adapted to the same to prepare the world class professionals and that is also one of the aims of these faculty development programs.
The event witnessed sessions of extremely high quality from the resource persons of International Stature, from Industry and Academia, not just from India but also from leading world universities. Some of the experts who enlightened the participants with their talks during the week long event include, Prof. Bernard Rolfe , Deakin University, Australia, Prof. Manoj Gupta, NUS, Singapore, Prof. Anish Upadhayay, IIT Kanpur, Prof. Harpreet Singh, IIT Ropar, Dr. Rupinder
 
Singh, NITTTR Chandigarh, Prof. Vijay Sanjairaj, New York University, Abu Dhabi, Prof. Ganesh Narayan, IIT Guwahati are some of the names among 16 speakers of great eminence. There was also a session on Stress Management and Happy Living which will be conducted by Sri Anand Desai Ji, International Teaching Faculty, Art of Living foundation who joined from Gujarat.

Prof. Sagar Mitra, Professor in Energy Science Department, IIT Bombay and a  renowned name in battery technology, delivered a talk on Batteries for Electric Transport on the concluding day of the program while Dr. Gaurav Kumar Dhuria, Associate Prof and Head of  Mechanical Engineering Department delivered a detailed talk of National Education Policy 2020 on the penultimate day and gave a thorough insight into it to all the participants.
