AICTE-ISTE Sponsored Induction/Refresher program gets underway at DAVIET 
Department of Mechanical Engineering, DAVIET, Jalandhar organizing a week long AICTE-ISTE sponsored Induction/Refresher program.

Jalandhar: Department of Mechanical Engineering, DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology is organizing a week long AICTE-ISTE (All India Council for Technical Education and Indian Society for Technical Education) sponsored Induction/Refresher program for faculty members of technical education institutes during June 07-12.

The event was inaugurated today with great zeal amid enthusiastic participation from across the country. Titled as “Advance Materials and Processes for Sustainable Intelligent Manufacturing”, the program has been conceived to provide the knowhow on current state of research and development in the field of Materials and Manufacturing Processes especially with focus on sustainability and was conducted in completely online mode. Almost 100 faculty members from different states of the country including Karnatka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi-NCR, Punjab etc. are participating in the event to enhance their knowledge about the related topics.

Prof. (Dr.) Buta Singh Sidhu, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda (ISTE Executive Council Member) and Col. B. Venkat, Director, Faculty Development Cell, AICTE, New Delhi were the distinguished guests at the inauguration ceremony and joined in online mode. The event has been designed to comprehensively cover the diverse fields of advanced materials such as metal and polymer-based composites, biomaterials for use with additive manufacturing, smart materials and manufacturing strategies including additive manufacturing, advance manufacturing processes, Green and Smart Manufacturing, waste minimization, recycle and reuse of materials etc.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Buta Singh Sidhu applauded the efforts of teachers, coupled with the progresses in the technology, that did not let education suffer the way it did in the previous pandemic 100 years ago. While highlighting statistics from National Education policy 2020, Dr. Sidhu talked about the numerous opportunities lined up for the trained teachers in the upcoming years and said that events like these are a step in right direction for creating adequate manpower for training the trainers. He also stressed the importance of value and ethics in the education and called upon all the teachers to focus on inculcating the same in the students and pupils and move towards being role models.
Col. B . Venkat also lauded the efforts and hard work of the DAVIET and the organizing team led by Prof. Gaurav Kumar Dhuria for the successful conduct of the program.

The event is lined up with a galaxy of experts from Industry and Academia not just from India but also from leading world universities. Some of the experts who will be deliberating their talks during the week long event include, Prof. Bernard Rolfe, Deakin University, Australia, Prof. Manoj Gupta, NUS, Singapore, Prof. Sagar Mitra, IIT Bombay, Prof. Anish Upadhayay, IIT Kanpur, Prof. Harpreet Singh, IIT Ropar, Dr. Rupinder Singh, NITTTR Chandigarh, Prof.
 
Vijay Sanjairaj, NYU, Abu Dhabi, Prof. Ganesh Narayan, IIT Guwahati are some of the names among 15 speakers of great eminence. Dr. Bernard Rolfe, Dr. Rupinder Singh and Dr. Jatinder Madan of Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology presented their talks on the inaugural day. There will also be a session on Stress Management and Happy Living which will be conducted by Sri Anand Desai Ji, International Teaching Faculty, Art of Living foundation who joined from Gujarat.

Dr. Gaurav Kumar Dhuria, Program Coordinator welcomed the experts and participants to the event. He highlighted the initiatives of Department of Mechanical Engineering such as Pragyan, the alumni talk series, regular Industry Week and focus on skill development of the technocrats.

Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal, DAVIET also welcomed the eminent guests and speakers and wished all the participants a happy learning over the next one week.
