Akhil Sharma of DAVIET entitled as the Best Debater in Inter College Debate Competition Organised by Tribune Trust

Jalandhar: Akhil Sharma, a student of DAVIET was entitled as the Best Debater in the Inter College Debate Competition organised by Tribune Trust at the DAVIET Campus on Thursday. The competition was tough as a total of twelve teams from leading colleges of the city tried to outperform their opponents through their oratorical skills on the topic Googlization—Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down.
The expert panel of Mr. Assa Singh Ghuman, and Ms. Mangla Verma judged the participants and declared Akhil the winner. Akhil Sharma from Mechanical Engineering First Year spoke in favour of Googlization and highlighted how through a judicious use of internet and Google in particular we can enrich our life. He cited various examples and proved that human kind is inches away from solving the problems through optimum and intelligent use of Google.
Mr. K.K Yadav, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar was the Chief Guest of the day. In his address he applauded the efforts of all the participants who spoke eloquently on a burning issue of the day. He highlighted that in the present day scenario, it is through the use of online services that the lives of common people can be made easy. He stressed upon the fact that we all should strive to create a just society where everyone should have their rights.
Mr. Yadwinder Singh Hayer, Commissioner Police, Jalandhar was the Guest of Honour. He congratulated all the participants for giving their best to win laurels for their respective teams and institutions. He highlighted the importance of balance in life and stated that everything if used in a balanced way is always a boon.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal DAVIET, thanked the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour for sparing their valuable time for the event. He stated that one should rely on the net sources but not at the cost of human agency. While addressing the participants he stated that we should know the cost that we have to pay to avail a facility so that we can judiciously plan the usage of it.
The debate competition was attended by Dr. Sonia Chawla, Head Department of Business Administration, Dr. Sanjeev naval, Head Department of Civil Engineering, Mr. Gaurav Dhuria, Head Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Parveen Kakkar, Head Department of Computer Application, faculty, staff and students of the Institution.
