Alert security guard foils robbery bid at Muthoot Fincorp, shot dead one 

Ludhiana, October 30, 2021: In a daring act, a security guard took on the robbers and fired shots that killed one of them and foiled the robbery bid at Muthoot Fincorp’ s Sunder Nagar branch after remaining assailants fled away from the spot. 
Commissioner of Police (CP) Gurpreet Singh Bhullar reached the spot, said that four robbers barged into the branch of Muthoot Fincorp around 10 am. He said that the robbers engaged the manager Sunny Sharma in loan conversation and tried to enter the strong room forcibly but Sharma resisted following which one of accused opened fires on him and left him injured. 
He added the alert guard Surjeet Kumar (47) of Kahna Dhesian, Jalandhar listened sound of gunfire and put the shutter down and took position outside with his weapon. He said that when robbers opened the shutter and came outside, Kumar fired shot that killed one of the robber. Remaining three assailants managed to flee away from the spot by scaling walls of adjoining buildings. 
Bhullar said that PCR team on being informed, reached the spot within two minutes and took injured Sunny to the hospital where his condition is stable and out of danger.
Commissioner of Police said that the cops have recovered one pistol from dead robber besides one other pistol, mobiles and bikes from nearby street thrown by them during chase by cops. He said that three special teams have been formed to nab absconding assailants. 
He told that images of the accused have also been shared with police of adjoining districts and GRP. 
Appreciating the bravery shown by Surjeet Kumar, he said that the Punjab Police would soon award him for his exceptional courageous act that foiled robbery. 
Meanwhile, he revealed that the recently teams of Ludhiana Commissionerate police had interacted with their security guards of finance dealing companies and guided them on how to keep vigil on suspects and prevent crime.  
Further, he said that we have taken cognizance of negligence on the part of Muthoot company including its alarm system was found non-functional and other issues. He said that suitable action would also be taken in this regard. 
A case under sections 393, 394, 307 of IPC and 25 section of Arms Act has been registered. The dead robber has been identified as Amar Partap Singh of Rasalpur village, Nalanda, Bihar.
