Ludhiana, August 8, 2019: Bhupinder Singh Mann, Ex-MP Rajya Sabha, National President of BKU and Chairman of All India Kisan Coordination Committee in a letter addressed to PM Modi felicitated him on behalf of the KCC for taking this strong and decisive step on J&K.

Mann, who was a close aide of renowned farmers’ leader late Sharad Joshi, remained an MP of Rajya Sabha from 1990 to 1996. In a statement, he said that he is writing to PM on behalf of All India Kisan Coordination Committee (KCC) after discussing with our constituent Kisan leadership from different States.

He said that "Our visionary Kisan leader, Late Sharad Joshi had advocated abrogation of Article 370 long back".

He further said that we sincerely hope and wish that this step will bring peace in the region, push development and generate employment for their youth. With this action, Modi has fulfilled one of the promise made by BJP in its Manifesto's.

In the letter, he requested the Prime Minister that “we at KCC, wish and hope that you will also show same commitment and zeal in fulfilling your promises made to the agriculture sector, which is in total despair. Agriculture sector, the back bone of Indian economy & development, needs radical structural changes, which can only be taken by a strong leader; which you have shown yourself to be. Farmers are keenly waiting when you fulfill the promise to increase MSP, in the right and honest earnest, to 1.5 times of the Cost of Production from the coming crop. I say "the right earnest", because we expect the cost of production to be calculated as per C2 formula instead of fallacious and incorrect method of A2 +FL. We are also expecting to see some concrete steps in regard to doubling farmers income by 2022 rather than theoretical and impractical vision of Zero Budget farming given by the FM in her budget speech."

He further said that the embargo on buying of land was not only limited to J&K. Thus, similar steps are required to be taken in other states also which have restrictions on land ownership to outsiders. Only then, the conjecture of "One India One Law" will appear holistic rather than being selective, he said.
