Shimla, October 7, 2016: Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh on his second day of visit to Tribal Lahaul valley, while addressing the gathering at Sissu, said that Sissu was well known as tourist village and all possible measures would be taken to develop Sissu by all means. He said that since the Rohtang tunnel would be completed within next two years or so, the tourists visiting the Lahaul valley would find Sissu a suitable place for recreation. The people of the valley should show courtesy and entertain the guest visiting the valley so that the tourist may remember the extreme hospitality of people of Lahaul and Spiti.
Shri Virbhadra Singh said that the government was considerate enough to provide Notaud to the landless, but they should not take it for granted that the people can construct houses wherever they feel like. They have to abide by the law of the land too. There are certain norms to apply for Notaud and people should apply as per the norms. He also directed to expedite and maintain the irrigation cannels (Kuhals) for providing irrigation facilities to the people for their produce. He said that the Kuhals should be maintain in such a way that they may not get damaged even in harsh winters.
He said that the vegetables are the main source of economy the tribal people of Lahaul valley and the government would ensure that they get adequate water for their fields through drip irrigation and sprinklers system.
Chief Minister announced that the playground would be developed at Sissu. He also announced to develop and beautify the lake at Sissu which was the main tourist attraction. He directed to reinstall the electric poles and wires immediately, which were damage due to snowfall, in and around Sissu, mainly covering the stretch of 40 kms from Teling to Mooling. He also assured to get constructed water tanks to facilitate the farmers with latest drip irrigation and sprinkler facility.
He also directed to get the damaged link roads repaired. He announced opening of allopathy dispensary at Koksar and setting up of 33 KV electric sub station at Koksar. He also announced lift facility for district hospital Keylong.
Later, Chief Minister laid foundation stone of Gumling bridge over river Bhaga to cost Rs. 1.86 crore. He also visited Kolong, Jispa and Darcha villages and listened to the grievances of people and directed its immediate redressal. He also inspected the under construction Mooling bridge over river Chandra which would connect three villages on the left bank of the river. He also listened to the public grievance at Gondhla and Sissu.
Chief Minister also inaugurated District Red Cross fair at Keylong.
Deputy Commissioner Shri Vivek Bhatia, who is also the Chairman of District Red Cross Society, welcomed the Chief Minister.

MLA and Vice Chairman, National SC & ST Commission Shri Ravi Thakur Ravi Thakur and Chairman Wool Federation Shri Raghuvir Thakur both welcomed the Chief Minister at Sissu and supported the local demands.

Shri Ravi Thakur urged the Chief Minister to provide Notaud to landless for agriculture purpose.

Vice Chairperson Zila Parishad Smt. Shashi Kiran and former Zila Parishad Member Shri Prem Chand also spoke on the occasion.

Pradhan Gram Panchyat Sissu Smt. Suman while welcoming the Chief Minister and other guests raised the demands of the areas. She also demanded X-Ray machine for Primary Health Centre Sissu.

Present on the occasion were Chief Secretary Shri V.C Pharka, DCC President Shri Raptan Bodh, President Block Congress Shri Narbu Pal, Senior Vice President DCC Shri Rajender Karpa, Member Marketing Board Shri Suresh Kardo, Members TAC Shri Pyare Lal and Nawang, President District Youth Congress Shri Deepak Thakur and SP Shri Raman Kumar Meena.
