All those killed in the fire breakout in the plastic factory should be given equal compensation: CPI

Ludhiana, November 23, 2017: Com Dr Joginder Dyal – Member Central Executive Committee CPI and Com. Hardev Arshi, state secretary of the Communist Party Punjab state after visiting the affected area and meting the families of the deceased has demanded that it is unfair to discriminate between the employees and ordinary workers in regard to compensation. The government’s announcement that the employees would be given Rs.10 Lakh and others Rs.2 Lakh as compensation is wrong. Every body should be given minimum of Rs.10 Lakh. The other workers have come from far flung areas and are from poor families. Even though the owner of the factory has been arrested, similar action should be taken against the municipal corporation officials who despite complaints by the citizens of the area let the factory be built. They are equally responsible for the incident. A high powered committee should immediately look into such buildings and take appropriate action without political pressure or any other consideration. The party, they said, will follow up the matter till its logical conclusion. Others who accompanied them include Com. Nirmal Dhaliwal, Gurnam Kanwar, D P Maur, Chamkaur Singh, Gurnam Sidhu, Gurnam Gill and Ramsh Rattan.
