CM & DY. CM entrusts investigation to VB

Chandigarh, September 13, 2012: Taking cognizance of the seriousness of the alleged misappropriation of public funds and to ensure transparency and accountability in the state administration, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today decided to entrust the enquiry in FIR No.175, dated 22-5-2012 under section 406, 409, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120B and FIR No.285 dated 25-6-2012 under section 406, 409, 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120B registered at Police Station Civil Lines, Amritsar to the State Vigilance Bureau.

Disclosing this here today a Spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the investigation under the said case had been transferred from the Punjab Police to Vigilance Bureau to ensure that the investigation was conducted in a free, impartial and transparent manner.

The investigation would be personally supervised by the Chief Vigilance Director Suresh Arora and he had been asked to submit the complete investigation report within four weeks.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the law of the land would take its own course and any person found guilty in the case would not be spared. 

The state government was committed to eradicate corruption from the public life to instill the confidence and faith of the people in the state administration, the Spokesperson added.
