Amarinder has lost moral ground to govern: Chugh
Says the vaccination drive in Punjab has completely collapsed
Chandigarh: BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh today slammed the Amarinder Singh government for completely failing to contain Covid-19 in Punjab and said that with the highest mortality rate in Punjab the chief minister has lost his moral right to govern the state.
In a statement, Chugh said the vaccination drive in Punjab has completely collapsed as a large number of people are unable to get inoculation done. "Punjab has miserably failed in maintaining the proper supply of vaccine as a result of which an atmosphere of fear and panic has gripped the state", said Chugh.
He said hundreds of people yesterday across the state went disappointed because of the inadequate availability of vaccine. "It is shocking to see that the state was left with just 5000-odd doses on last Sunday that spoke volumes about the poor management of the vaccination supply by the state government", Chugh said..
Expressing serious concern at the poor testing drive Chugh lambasted the state government for its complacency and insensitivity. He said due to poor testing drive patients have been unable to get treatment on time as a result of which almost 85 per cent of patients coming to hospitals already have severe symptoms
He said with 231 deaths in a day taking place on Tuesday, which is the highest number of deaths in a day, a pall of gloom has descended on the state and Chief Minister Amarinder Singh should be squarely held responsible for it.
Chugh in view of increasing infighting in the Punjab Congress the governance in the state has collapsed, as a result of which the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues seemed more involved in settling their political scores than addressing the grave problem of pandemic.
In the circumstances when the chief minister is more worried about keeping his flock together how much care can he give to the Covid patients ?
