Amazon.in invests in specialized infrastructure

~ Punjab to get 1 specialised Fulfilment Centre in Ludhiana with a storage capacity of over100,000 cubic feet ~
Ludhiana: Amazon.in announced today that it has invested in 9dedicated Fulfilment Centres(FCs) and 33Delivery Stationsexclusively for Furniture and Large Appliances.The new FCs have beenopened in 9 states to cater to the growing demand for Large Appliances and Furnitureacross the country. These include Punjab & Haryana. With this launch, Amazon.in has34 FCs across 10 states in India, covering a total area of over 3 million square feet with a storage capacity close to 10 millioncubic feet. In preparation for heightened demand this summer, Amazon.in has also increased its selection by over 3,000 products in the Large Appliances category consisting of Air Conditioners, Air Coolers, Refrigerators, Washing Machines and TVs. The infrastructure will also serve the Furniture category with over 400 number of products. Manish Tiwary, Vice President, Category Management, Amazon Indiasaid “We have seen phenomenal growth in the Large Appliances & Furniture categories and expect huge customer demand for products such as ACs, Air coolers & Refrigerators during the summer. We have partnered with several of the big appliances brands to launch an exclusive collection for Amazon customers.The category has seen nearly 200% growth in the last one year and grew 5X of daily volumes during our last sale event held in January. Our new FCs will enable customers in 20 cities to receive their products the very next day and we will continue to expand our reach to offer an unparalleled shopping experience.”
