Occasion was "Building Brazil 1822-2022” exhibition held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi
Jalandhar, April 8, 2022: His Excellency Ambassador of Brazil in India, Mr Andre Aranha Correa do Lago made an interactive-address to Lovely Professional University (LPU) students of Architecture and Design by letting them have first-hand knowledge about the 200 years’ architectural set ups in Brazil. LPU students were on an educational tour to know about the best in the architectural world.
This occasion was the "Building Brazil 1822-2022” exhibition held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The Embassy of Brazil in India has been organizing the ‘Exhibition’ in the context of 200 years of Independence of Brazil. LPU Students of Architecture & Design availed the occasion and gained first-hand knowledge about various periods and growth of Brazilian architecture.
In relation to the exhibition, LPU students got answers to their queries including what have Brazilians built in the past 200 years; how their buildings have turned out as iconic works of architecture; how extraordinary public spaces on all corners of the continental-country have been created, and more. LPU students also came to know about Brazilian buildings in the phase of 1822 to 1930 as neo-classic, wide-ranging and art-deco architecture. In the 1930 to 2022 phase, Brazilian buildings are modernist and those of contemporary architecture.
Answering many other questions, the exhibition also provided LPU students with a unique insight on the quality and diversity of Brazilian culture expressed in the built environment through photographs. H E Mr Lago also shared their intention to showcase a modern Brazil, and the contribution the country has made to the world. The Secretary of the Embassy of Brazil, Mr Daniel Kohler Lette also addressed LPU’s budding architects.
After a long gap of 2.5 years due to COVID 19, the School of Architecture and Design at LPU has organized an eight-day study tour under the guidance of its Dean and Chief Architect of LPU, Prof (Dr.) Atul Kumar Singla. “With exposure to an international environment, access to the latest tools, software and technology, our students become architects, planners and designers that create infrastructure of global standards”, shares Mr Atul Singla.
In fact, the vision at LPU’s School of Architecture & Design is to emerge as a global Centre of “Excellence for Learning, Research and Engagement” in architecture, design and planning. It is ranked among top ten promising architecture institutes of India by Higher Education Review. The Ministry of Education of India has ranked it 12th in its NIRF Ranking, among all government and private institutions of the country. In an era of smart cities, sustainable buildings and contemporary interiors, it trains students to become lateral thinkers by focusing on critical design approaches.
More than 100 students of LPU were led by HoD, Prof Ar. Nagendra Narayan along with Ar Chetan Sachdeva and Ar Rajvir Kaur visited the exhibition to know the best in the field of architectural designs.
