Amity University Haryana kick starts annual sports meet `Sangathan’
Every year “Sangathan” is held to promote the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie amongst students of Amity.
Amity University Haryana kick started its annual Sports Meet "Sangathan 2019" at its sprawling campus in Manesar. To ensure healthy mind and physical fitness of the students and to celebrate Founder’s Day, Amity University Haryana (AUH) started 20th Inter Amity Institutions Sports Meet “Sangathan 2019” at University Campus. During the month long sports saga, over 2,000 students from institutions of the campuses will zealously participate in more than 19 games and 15 track and field event which will include sports activities including Cricket, Football and Tennis. Teams representing the various departments of the AUH will be vying for the coveted Sangathan Trophy . The faculty and staff members will also participate in various sports events including basketball, volleyball, track & field etc during Sangathan.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with the lighting of the “Sangathan Mashaal” by Prof P B Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Haryana and Maj Gen B S Suhag (Retired) - Deputy Vice Chancellor, Amity University Haryana in the presence of Maj Gen G S Bal (Retd), DSW,AUH, Directors/HoIs and senior officials of Amity. The Mashaal was carried through the campus by the students cheered along as they made their way through the Departments and Institutions of the university.
The inauguration was followed by a friendly Kabaddi match played between students of Amity University Haryana.
Declaring “Sangathan 2019” open, Prof P B Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Haryana said that there is no other University in the world that has such a great gathering of motivated students and faculty members as Amity. Most important aspect of Sangathan is to nurture in you the spirit of acknowledgement of the goodness of others.
While addressing the august gathering Maj. Gen. G S Bal (Retd.), DSW, Amity University Haryana stated that participating in sports promotes character building. It is essential that students must participate whole heartedly in games to imbide qualities of team work, camaraderie and discipline. Highlighting the launch Fit India Movement, the DSW stated that the movement would sensitize Indian youth towards playing games, maintaining a healthy life style and remaining physically and mentally fit.
When you win you are happy but when you lose you learn and grow. Failures are stepping stones to success, Maj Gen Bal (Retd) added.
Also present during the occasion were Maj Gen Sharma (Retd.), Col Ajit Chopra (Retd), Cdr N K Dahiya (Retd), Read Admiral K K Pandey (Retd), Mr Hansraj, Sports Manager, Dr. Gurpreet Makkar, Dr Vijay Bhardwaj, Dr Ranjana Kothari, Deputy DSW,, Ms. Sonika Ohlyan, , Mr Ravi Rathee, HOD’s, Staff and a large gathering of enthusiastic students.
