Amity University Punjab and SVEEP hold event to generate electoral awareness

Amity University Punjab, in collaboration with the Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Process (SVEEP), organized an event to raise awareness among the youth of our nation about the significance of participating in the electoral process. Distinguished guests, including Siban C., CEO Punjab; Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, DC cum DEO Gurdaspur; Aashika Jain, DC cum DEO, SAS Nagar; Tarsem Jassar (Actor & Singer), Dr. Sandeep Garg, SSP, SAS NAGAR; and Ishwar Singh IPS, graced the occasion.

Mohali, January 28, 2024: Amity University Punjab, in collaboration with the Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Process (SVEEP), organized an event to raise awareness among the youth of our nation about the significance of participating in the electoral process. Distinguished guests, including Siban C., CEO Punjab; Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, DC cum DEO Gurdaspur; Aashika Jain, DC cum DEO, SAS Nagar; Tarsem Jassar (Actor & Singer), Dr. Sandeep Garg, SSP, SAS NAGAR; and Ishwar Singh IPS, graced the occasion.
 
The event, hosted at Amity University, Mohali, began with a warm welcome by Vice-Chancellor Dr. RK Kohli, who talked about the importance of voting. Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, Siban C., emphasized on the need to increase voter turnout during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections through a mass awareness drive under the SVEEP activities.
 
The function also featured the unveiling of the Election Awareness Mascot Shera 2.0 by Shri Siban C., reinforcing the message of exercising the right to vote. Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal IAS, DC Gurdaspur, received the Best Electoral Practice Award in the general category for the year 2023-24. State Police Nodal Office, Punjab, and individuals from district Jalandhar and Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar were also honored for their outstanding contributions to SVEEP.
 
Renowned Punjabi Singer and Actor, Tarsem Jassar, joined the event as the Punjab State ICON of Election Commission. He encouraged young voters to participate in the electoral process, urging those eligible to register and cast their votes.
 
The event concluded with a cultural bonanza showcasing performances such as Gidha, Bhangra, and Luddi. Additionally, a digital launch of the first edition of e-patrika on activities of Electoral Literacy Club of Amity University, Punjab took place, along with the announcement of winners of an online painting competition.
 
 
In her address, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain expressed pride in the nation's progress as a democratic country and reaffirmed the commitment to ensuring transparent and inclusive elections in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
