An Autocross Championship to be held in the city for a cause, to raise funds for setting up an operation theatre to help children with congenital heart diseases
Children ailing with congenital heart disease will soon have a reason to smile.
Hyderabad, June 1, 2023: The Rotary Club of Lake District Moinabad is holding a first-of-its-kind Indian National Autocross championship. This Championship is being held for a cause, to raise funds for setting up an operation theatre to help children with congenital heart diseases.
An Autocross is a sort of race to reach the chequered flag first. Instead, participants must navigate through a predetermined obstacle course and complete it in the fastest possible time. It is a race against the clock, with the format being a true test of a driver’s skill and car control.
It will be held at a custom-built race track in Boulder Hills Golf Course in Hyderabad. The event will raise funds for setting up an Operation Theatre facility for heart surgeries at Sathya Sai Hospital in the District town of Siddipet. The Operations Theatre is slated to provide much-needed free treatment to children with congenital heart disease. The estimated cost for setting up the facility is around Rs 7.5 crore.
According to Rotarian Uday Pilani, the Rotary Foundation has approved a Global Grant of USD 200,000 for this noble project. “Our club is organising the National Championship to raise our portion of the contribution. We have received overwhelming support from our Rotarians and are confident of meeting our goals,” said Pilani, who is also the district’s major gifts advisor.
Outlining the plans for the championship, Anupam Raj and Vishnu Upadhyaya from the Motorsports Club of India confirmed that top racers will be participating in the event to be held from June 2-4, 2023. “From our side, we have initiated a series of measures to make motorsport attractive to all enthusiasts. We are organising training and ensuring the availability of cars (on hire). The amateur entrants can participate with their regular cars,” they said. All mandatory safety measures as prescribed have been taken up for the event.
The Club President, Patanjali Rao Upadrasta, said that the event was being curated in the best manner possible to make this maiden event a grand success. “There is some delectable Food & Beverage service on offer by Fusion9 Signature Banquets and Music by a galaxy of DJs and interesting Live Acts. We believe this MotorFest is a not to miss unique event and the experience it will offer will be a memorable one to be enjoyed with family and friends,” he said while requesting people to participate in large numbers and support the children with heart disease.
