Amazon Prime Video’s latest young adult show The Summer I Turned Pretty is receiving bucket-loads of love from everyone all over the globe for its relatability to today’s generation. The relationships portrayed in the show, the journey of self-love and discovery for Belly (played by Lola Tung) and the manner in which the show addresses the problems that today’s young adults face are all exemplary. One of the youngest and favourite Bollywood actresses, Ananya Pandey recently watched the show and she instantly became a fan. Talking about how the show has deeply resonated with her, Ananya candidly shared her views.
“I feel like something that Belly (Isabel Conklin) said in the season finale resonated with me very strongly. She spoke about how girls are always made to feel like they need to be told that they're pretty. And you know, that's wrong.” She continues, “It's more about feeling beautiful on the inside, and loving yourself. And I feel that's something that I'm learning to do every single day. So, I think that was a very big learning lesson for me from the show, because the whole series before that kept talking about this transformation she's had, but I think in the last episode, she realises that it's so much more than that.”
Based on a trilogy by New York Times bestselling author Jenny Han, the show has already been renewed for a second season. It stars Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Jackie Chung and Rachel Blanchard in pivotal roles. You can binge-watch the first season exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
