Anil Joshi Orders Action Against Nursing & Dental Colleges Indulging In Irregularities

Chandigarh, December 4, 2015: The Medical Education and Research Minister, Punjab, Mr.Anil Joshi has taken strong notice of the nursing and dental colleges indulging in irregularities and deficiencies in infrastructure. He has directed the officers of the department to form teams and conduct checks on all the colleges and supervise all the aspects. The Minister has also issued instructions to the teams to prepare a list of the colleges indulging in irregularities and falling deficient on the prescribed standards. This would ensure strict action against erring colleges.

Disclosing this here today, Mr. Joshi said that the departmental teams during the inspection of a few colleges, parents of some students brought to his notice that many dental and nursing colleges of the state are lacking in infrastructural facilities such as laboratories, practical training and required teaching staff. Besides this, the fee requisite fees for affiliation of colleges have also not been deposited with the university. Taking strong notice, the Minister said that the colleges with such deficiencies would be strictly proceeded against.

Divulging more, the Minister said that it has also come to his notice that the teams of Accountant General (AG) were not allowed to enter the colleges when they went their for inspection purposes.

The Minister said that he received complaint from some parents against a few nursing colleges not providing practical training to students. Acting upon it, he has instructed to constitute a team comprising the professors of Government Medical College, Patiala and probe this issue and submit the report in 7 days.

Warning the colleges not to violate the set norms, the Minister ordered them to provide practical training to the students in the appropriate manner. He has issued explicit instructions to the departmental officers to issue show cause notices to the colleges indulging in irregularities and warn them of disaffiliation in case they don’t mend their ways.
