ANIL SHARMA becomes Cabinet Minister in Himachal Government


Urmila Singh, Governor, Himachal Pradesh, administering oath  to Anil Sharma as Cabinet Minister at Raj Bhawan, Shimla on Saturday.

Dharamsala, March 2, 2013: The two month old Virbhadra Singh-led Congress government in its first expansion, on Saturday, inducted Anil Sharma, MLA from Mandi as Cabinet Minister.

Anil is the son of former Union Minister Sukh Ram.

On Saturday morning, Governor Urmila Singh administered oath of office and secrecy to Sharma at the Raj Bhawan, Shimla.

Sharma has been given the portfolio of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and Animal Husbandry.

A third time legislator, Sharma was a minister for state from 1993 to 1996 in the then Virbhadra Singh ministry.

He has also been a member of the Rajya Sabha.

There still is one seat vacant in Himachal Cabinet, which permits 12 ministers including the CM.

Virbhadra said the vacant spot in the cabinet would be filled up after the budget session.

All cabinet colleagues Vidya Stokes, Thakur Kaul Singh, GS Bali, Sujan Singh Pathania, Thakur Singh Bharmouri, Mukesh Agnihotri, Sudhir Sharma, Prakash Chaudhary and Dhani Ram Shandil were present on the occasion.

Former union minister Sukh Ram was also present.
