Ludhiana, October 23, 2024: Anjali Gupta, a final-year student of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, has made her college proud by being selected for the prestigious Pre-Everest Expedition to Mount Abi Gamin (7,355 meters).
Representing the 3 Punjab Girls Battalion NCC, Ludhiana, Anjali was one of only 34 cadets chosen from across India during the selection trials held in New Delhi from August 15 to 16, 2024. After selection on August 17, she underwent rigorous training, including tent pitching, rock climbing, and river crossing at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in Uttarkashi.
Flagged off by DG NCC, Lt. Gen. Gurbirpal Singh, on August 21, the expedition faced challenging conditions, culminating in a trek to the Abi Gamin base camp at 15,406 feet. Although heavy snowfall halted the summit attempt, the cadets’ resilience shone through. Principal Prof. Inderjit Singh lauded Anjali’s accomplishment, calling it a moment of pride for the college and the region.
