ANNOUNCEMENT: Rotational irrigation programme from Oct 31 to Nov7

Chandigarh, October 30, 2012: The Irrigation Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Programme for irrigation for the Rabbi Season through Canal water from 31-10-2012 to 7-11-2012. The channels and branches off-taking from Ropar Head Works, the channels of Sirhind Canal System would run on the priority basis from Patiala Feeder, Abohar Branch, Bist Doab Canal, Sidhwan Branch and Bathinda Branch, respectively.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Irrigation Department said that direct distributaries of BML, Ghaggar link and its off-taking channels i.e. Ghaggar Branch and Patiala Minor of Group ‘B’, being in the first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilized in direct distributaries in Group ‘A’.

The spokesman further said that Punjab channels and Branches off-taking from Harike and Ferozpur Head Works, Abohar Branch off-taking from Sirhind Feeder and its distributaries/minors, in Group ‘B’ being in the first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilized in all the direct Distributaries of Sirhind Feeder in Group ‘A’.

The spokesman also said that the in the Upper Bari Doab Canal system, Kasur Branch Lower with its distributaries, being in the 1^st preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilized in Sabhroan Branch, Lahore Branch and Main Branch Lower with their distributaries, respectively.
