Annual convocation and prize distribution at RGC

Ludhiana, April 25, 2018: Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj, Ludhiana organized its Annual Convocation on April 25, 2018 wherein degrees were conferred on the students who passed out in the academic session 2016-17. Prof.Arun Kumar Grover, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University Chandigarh presided over the event as worthy chief guest. Dr.Satish Sharma, Director (Colleges)DAVCMC marked his presence as Guest of Honour. Principal Dr.Inderjit Kaur, S.Ranjodh Singh, President and S.Gurcharan Singh Lotey, General Secretary, Ramgarhia Educational Council extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guest. Formal Principal Ms Harmit Kaur and Dr.Narinder Sandhu also graced the occasion.

The ceremony commenced with a prayer to the almighty as the students of PG Dept. of Music Vocal rendered a shabad in their soulful voices. Thereafter the Chief Guest conferred degrees on 320 students. Roll of Honour was awarded to 27 students who had done exceptionally well in academics, cultural activities and sports.

3 Students of M.A Music Vocal and 1 of Art were honoured for bagging university positions in May 2017. 13 students of sports were awarded for their outstanding performances at various inter-varsity and National level championships. The others who were felicitated were the team of Kali Gayan, Kavishri, Ladies Traditional Songs, Kabbit Gayan, Classical Dance etc for securing positions in Punjab State Inter College Cultural Competition organized by Punjab Kala Parishad. College Principal read out the annual convocation report and while highlighting the achievements of the college, she said that college has always endeavored to impart value-based education laced with academic excellence. She further added that students should uphold the honour of their alma mater in all their future ventures.

Prof. Arun Kumar while addressing the students put emphasis on women empowerment. He further added that educated woman reflects educated well developed nation. Dr Satish Sharma conveyed his best wishes to the degree holders. S. Ranjodh Singh said that the alumni are the reflection of an institution’s excellence and credibility. He motivated the students by suggesting them to follow the path of righteousness. S. Gurcharan Singh Lotey congratulated the students on their precious attainment and thanked the Chief Guest for gracing the occasion. On this occasion, Sh. Ashok Tandon, Principal, Ramgarhia Sr. Sec. School for Boys was also honoured for his services and contribution in the field of Education

The event came to an end with prize distribution ceremony where 200 students were distributed prizes and certificates for their marking performance in different cultural, sports and academic fields for session 2017-18.
