Ludhiana, May 24, 2016: `ANUKAMA' the Annual Design Collection, NIIFT, Ludhiana, will be held on 25th May, 6:00 p.m at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan, Near Bharat Nagar Chowk, Ludhiana. The evening will feature 19 hands-on beautiful collections created by the students of Fashion Design Department from Ludhiana.
The show will be graced by Shri Madan Mohan Mittal, Minister for Industries and Commerce and Technical Education & Industrial Training, Punjab, as the Chief Guest who has kindly consented to give away the awards to the budding designers. Sh. Anirudh Tewari, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries & Commerce, Punjab and Chairman, NIIFT shall preside over the function.
Three years of knowledge, sweat and assessment culminate at the annual ramp presentation – Anukama’16. This final presentation is an amalgamation of the learning that the students imbibe during their education at the institute. Through the media of colors, materials, finishes and techniques, the students express individual statements as design collections.
NIIFT is an accredited, diverse, and expanding college of Fashion, Management and Technology established in 1995 and has grown to be one of the premiere institutes. NIIFT provides B.Sc and M.Sc Degrees. NIIFT has become the breeding ground for talented fashion designers and merchandisers. NIIFT, Ludhiana established in 2008 provides the perfect sight for establishment of NIIFT due to its proximity to the emerging and established garment industry situated in the North Zone.
The student’s collections are juried by industry experts and showcased by professional models, in a high-caliber elegant presentation that has become a staple in the college's lineup of annual events. Anukama ‘16 will showcase 19 collections by graduating students of Fashion Design, Ludhiana. Each student has individually worked on a theme and would present five ensembles each. The show is coordinated by Dr. Simrita Singh.
Over 15 male and female models would walk the ramp adding the glam quotient to the students’ creations.
Students were guided by their Mentors; Ms. Rajwinder Kaur, Mr. Harpreet Singh, Ms. Ramanpreet Kaur and Ms. Navneet Suman.
An eminent jury made up of Fashion ,Apparel and Textile Experts were invited to evaluate the designed collections.The Jury included Dr. Kavita Marriya (Fashion Consultant & Ex HOD,Govt. H.Sc.College), Dr Tirthankar Bhattacharya,Asst Prof,Dept of Design & Visual Arts,PU and Mr. Hitesh Manuja,Head Marketing &Merchandising, Winsome Mohali.
The show will be directed by leading Bollywood fashion Director Mr. Kaushik Ghosh.The prominent models participating in ANUKAMA ‘2016 are as follow:

According to Dr.SimritaSingh,”The show this year comprises an ecclectic collections of ensembles painstakingly created by the students of FD over a period of 6 months under the mentorship Design faculty. The collections vary from ethnic to modern and also highly creative collections based on fantasized concepts and themes.”
Dr. Poonam Aggarwal, Dy. Registrar, NIIFT said, “The developed collections are evident of the fact that Fashion Designers need to run, not walk-Conceptualizing and developing need based, quick business focused design solutions that can be easily developed. This means leveraging new technologies to deliver contemporary up market fashion”
Ms. Rajwinder Kaur, Course Coordinator,FD/FDK Department said, “Students use this platform to present their signature style and statement. They have put in their best of work which can be seen in their collections.”
Sh. Mahesh Khanna, Centre Incharge, NIIFT, Ludhiana and General Manager, District Industries Centre, Ludhiana while giving vote of thanks informed that institute is fulfilling the objectives of providing skilled professionals as per need of industry.All students have been given required exposure in the fashion background. The technical training, facilities and expert guidance provided to each and every student is very much evident from creativity showcased which is matchless and we are sure that these designers will rock the market with their creativity and will bring laurels to the institute.
