Dharamsala, March 22, 2016: Anurag Thakur today reacted on the double standards of Virbhadra Singh over Cricket in Himachal.
He said that the approach followed by Congress party across quarters of family first, party next & nation last is hampering the image and growth of the nation at large. The self-contradictory statement, political manipulations and self-oriented approach, has made Himachal Pradesh a topic of discussion and mockery for people across the globe. Thanks to the back and forth of CM Virbhadra Singh’s take on the India-Pakistan match, the State has not only incurred losses due to the cancellation of the match but no team now wishes to play in Dharamsala given their concern pertaining to security.
Commenting on the proposal made by Virbhadra Singh on hosting IPL and thereby offering tax exemption, Sh. Anurag Singh Thakur said, “Unfortunately the world does not move as per Virbhadra Singh’s whims and fancies, helping him to satiate his political agendas. Had he been concerned about the State’s image and welfare of people, he would have thought before giving out various misleading statements one after the other pertaining to India-Pakistan match. Had the Congress led Himachal Government not got down to petty politics at the last minute, the scenario would have been much different. If they would have reacted on the Pathankot attacks right after the unfortunate incident and called of the match, the image of the State would not have been affected. Infact I am sure in that scenario, the teams would not have backed out from playing IPL at Dharamshala owing to security concern. My concern is not cancellation of the match, but biggest worry is that the State has been highlighted in a lowlight, affecting the economic growth of the State as tourism has also been affected immensely. Commenting on hosting IPL matches and offering to exempt taxes on IPL games now after the schedule has been announced shows that the government is trying to befool the people. Making flip flop statements in public will not make up for the huge loss suffered by the State. With leaders such as Virbhadra Singh, only embarrassment and being sacrificed at the cost of personal political gains will come by people’s way.”
