APPEAL FOR BLOOD DONATIONS DURING CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC
Department of Transfusion Medicine at DMCH Ludhiana prepared to facilitate safe donation
Ludhiana: Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMCH) Ludhiana under the guidance of Secretary of DMCH Managing Society Prem Kumar Gupta had made a fervent appeal to all to come forward to donate blood for ailing patients. Most of the blood banks in the nation are experiencing concern regarding decreasing blood reserves, even as the country continued to report fresh COVID-19 or Corona virus cases. The influx of voluntary doors coming up to donate blood and save lives is almost nil due to cancellation of blood drive camps and strict social distancing measures.
Ever since the beginning of lockdown, many doctors including consultants, resident and PG students of DMCH have donated blood along with para-medical staff members. For the past one month, total 110 units of blood have been collected so far. All those willing to donate blood are requested to contact Department of Transfusion Medicine, DMCH at 0161-4687676.
Department of Transfusion Medicine at DMCH is prepared to facilitate the safe donation because of infectious disease control stringent screening and procedures to curtail spread of diseases. Donating blood is safe and takes only few minutes of your time. “So, we request every healthy individual to come forward and donate blood and play crucial role in saving lives”, said Gupta.
