Chandigarh, December 27, 2012: The Punjab Government today appointed eight Chairpersons of District Planning Committees with immediate effect.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal gave his nod to this effect on Wednesday evening.
The newly appointed chairpersons of these committees included MLA Malout Harpreet Singh for Sri Muktsar Sahib, former Cabinet Minister Hira Singh Gabria for Ludhiana and former MLA Veer Singh Lopoke for Amritsar.
Likewise, senior Akali leader Gurcharan Singh Channi had been appointed as Chairperson of District Planning Committee Jalandhar, former MLA Sarabjeet Singh Makkar of Kapurthala, Deepinder Singh Dhillon of Patiala, Prem Kumar Valecha of Fazilka and former MLA Mangat Ram Bansal of Mansa.
