Appropriate steps will be taken for skill development of women: Rekha Sharma

Dharamsala, January 8, 2022: Chairperson of National Commission for Women, Rekha Sharma said that special emphasis will be laid on skill development and capacity building of women so that the economic condition of women can be strengthened. At the conclusion of the seminar meeting of women's commissions at Satowri village in Dharamsala, National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma said that appropriate steps are being taken to give powers to women's commissions.
She said that in many states, women's commissions are ensuring solutions to the problems of women in a very good way. She said that the National Commission for Women is also ensuring guidance from time to time.
Chairperson of the National Commission for Women in India, Rekha Sharma said that NCW in collaboration with Himachal state women Commission hold two-day meeting with all heads of state Commissions in Dharamsala. Meeting discussed various issues and took decisions accordingly. NCW holds such meetings every three months but this time they are having physical meetings after two years due to Covid. 14 states participated in the meeting here.
 Rekha sharma also spoke about coordination between state and national commissions to reach more women and provide them help in all matters.
Sharma said that they discussed Women's participation in decision making bodies and to give them training as well. They also discussed domestic violence issues, victim compensation and law review issues during the meeting.
Sharma said that we  are planning to move towards legislation and women parliamentarians and hold training sessions for them. She said that NCW has started training programmes in colleges about women capacity building and leadership training.
Commenting on the need for special laws for women, Sharma said that special rights for women are needed in our society as we are still fighting for gender equality.
