Army conducts commemoration ceremony on martyrdom day of Shaheed Major Sardaar Malkiat Singh Brar, Maha Vir Chakra (Posthumous)
The ceremony was conducted as per military honours and traditions
Ferozepur: Golden Arrow Division commemorated the Martyrdom day of Shaheed Major Sardaar Malkiat Singh Brar, Maha Vir Chakra (Posthumous) at his native place at village Alamwala Kalan, district Moga. Shaheed Major Sardaar Malkiat Singh Brar made the supreme sacrifice of his life during 1948 conflict with Pakistan in Poonch (J&K).
Commander, Sehjra Brigade laid wreath on behalf of the Formation alongwith senior most War Veteran residing in Moga and representatives from unit of Shaheed Major Sardaar Malkiat Singh Brar.
The ceremony was conducted as per military honours and traditions with Guard of Honour at the Memorial and playing of martial tunes by the Army Pipe Band from Vajra Corps- The Defenders of Punjab. A shawl and a token gift for Smt Balbir Kaur, wife of Late gallantry awardee officer, was received by the relatives of the martyr on behalf of the Veer Nari who could not attend the function due to old age and health conditions..
